ModelRelief is undergoing a huge remodel. We apologize for the inconvenience and will be back online this week.

Model Relief has a huge selection of skin care products to choose from. However, you may be able to get just as healthy skin without them. Here are just a few tips to help you get the perfect skin for modeling.

Drink lots of water! You should have at least 8 glasses of water a day. The only bad side effect of drinking a little extra water, is very frequent bathroom breaks. However, that's kind of the point. Your body needs lots of water to flush out all it's toxins.

Another tip I've heard is that you're not supposed to get too much exposure to the sun. But this also goes both ways. You need 10 minutes in the sun each day to get vitamin D and sun exposure also helps deal with acne and gives you tan skin.

Avoid being stressed. This may be the hardest to do but It's very important. One way to deal with stress is to exercise every day. This has several other benefits too as exercising will keep your whole body in better shape and get your blood flowing which also helps clean out those toxins. Getting plenty of beauty sleep may help deal with stress as well.

If you do use beauty products or skincare products then you don't necessarily need the most expensive stuff. Infact you can make your own for very cheap.

Your portfolio is one of the most important tools you'll need. Overall a portfolio is very simple and can be obtained for fairly cheap.

Usually, you want from 5-12 photos. Get a variety of head shots, 3/4 body, and full body. You'll usually want at least one swim wear pic and the rest you'll want to match whatever type of modeling you'll be doing... Commercial, Swimwear, High Fashion, etc. If you only have 5 good photos that's fine. It's better then having 12 semi decent ones. Now, you can take all your photos and put them in a nice case, Portfolio.

How to get the photos. If you don't already have the photos then here is a great way to get pretty good pics for free. Go to craigslist.com and under the gigs section create a posting that says, "I'm a local model needing a TFCD" (TradeForCD). In most states you will get an instant reply by several photographers. They will probly ask for a few samples pics, if you didn't post pics on the craigslist ad. Then you will schedule where to meet. The photographer will take photos of you for free and give them to you on a DVD as long as you dont charge him for your time. That way both you and him can expand your portfolios for free.

If you already have an agent then he will probably suggest a photographer for you to use. You will usually want to fallow your agents suggestions as he may be looking for a certain style or feel that he knows he will get with that specific photographer. Also, paying for a photographer may be a good thing. You get what you pay for. A TFCD should produce pics that are just fine While hiring a professional photographer may give you that extra edge your portfolio needs.

If you're about to get a TFCD for your first time then you should look through a magazine for different poses that you like. It's important to be natural, but knowing different ways to sit, stand, lie down will make the portfolio much more interesting. The most important thing to remember is confidence. Relax, be comfortable, and have fun.
